by Nick RiganascoWhat is a sexual orientation?
It’s the term used to describe a person who is neither sexually attracted to nor sexually attracted towards people of the same sex.
It is often used to define someone who is not bisexual or pansexual.
What are some of the sexual characteristics of asexuals?
Asexuals are people who do not experience sexual attraction to or a desire to have sex with people of their same sex (same-sex attraction is an umbrella term that covers many sexual preferences).
They are not attracted to people of any gender identity, and there are no specific sexual fantasies associated with sexual attraction.
Are there any similarities between asexual and gay people?
A sexual orientation can vary significantly depending on the person, but there are a few similarities.
Asexuals may experience sexual arousal, arousal that is not directed towards the opposite sex, or arousal that doesn’t feel as if it would be possible to achieve the same sexual pleasure with the opposite gender.
The sexual experiences of both asexual people and gay or lesbian people can be very different from each other.
A heterosexual couple may enjoy kissing, cuddling, and mutual masturbation, while gay people may enjoy watching pornography and masturbation, or having sex in public.
Some asexual persons experience sexual experiences that feel more sexual than the same-sex attractions that they experience.
For example, some asexual individuals may experience erotic desire, but not sexual attraction, and may have sexual fantasies of their opposite sex.
Some asexual women may experience strong sexual desire, and experience orgasm when they have sex.
Why is it called asexual?
A common misconception is that asexualism is a label applied to asexual men.
But this is not the case.
There are a number of reasons that a person might identify as asexual, and the most common of these is because they are not sexually attracted at all.
It is also common for asexualities to be asexual because they have a strong sense of self, a sense of being unable to conceive of themselves as a member of a gender, or because they experience negative emotional reactions to sexual contact.
Who is most at risk of becoming asexual?:Asexuality can be extremely difficult for many people to come out as.
This can cause significant difficulties in being accepted in the dating, work, or sexual environments that they would like to enter.
A lot of a sexual minority, especially young people, are at risk because they lack support from their families and friends, and are unable to trust people who identify as heterosexual.
How common is aversion?
The term aversion is sometimes used to refer to people who are sexually attracted only to their own sex, and who do so for a variety of reasons, including:Being sexually attracted by someone of the opposite-sex (same sex attraction)Being sexually interested in someone of a different sex (bi attraction)Feeling a need to deny, or not experience attraction to, a person of the other sex (homosexual attraction)The inability to experience the same arousal, pleasure, and desire for a person from the same gender or sex that a sexual partner experiences for themselves.
What does it mean to be in a “binary” asexual person?
A person may identify as either asexual or gay or bisexual, and many of them are able to be open and honest about their sexuality, while others are unable.
Some of the best known asexual figures include Miley Cyrus, who identifies as a lesbian and has a passion for kinky sex, Katt Williams, who has a bisexual background, and Sam Smith, who says he prefers heterosexual sex and asexual relationships.
Asexual people may be attracted to both the same and opposite sex at the same time, or may be able to experience both at the time of their birth.
Can I have a partner who is asexually attracted to me?
There are some people who can be partners with asexual partners who are not asexual.
They can be attracted or repelled by the same person, or both at once.
There are many situations in which it may be possible for a partner to be attracted, but is not necessarily something that a partner should be expected to have to deal with.
It can also be possible that they might find themselves attracted to someone else, but do not identify as such.
In these cases, the partner may be unable to communicate their attraction or not be aware of their attraction.
If this is the case, it can be helpful to seek advice from asexual organisations, such as the asexual society.
What are the consequences of being asexual in the workplace?
A non-binary person may be the subject of workplace discrimination and sexual harassment in the same way that asex individuals are.
Some examples include:Being asked inappropriate questions about your sexual orientationBeing made to feel like you are not good enough for a jobBeing asked to dress up
